    Milo Carlton opened his hamburger joint in 1946 after serving in the food service division of the National Guard. The story goes that regular customers helped Carlton develop the sauce, telling him when it was too hot or too sweet. The first Milo's franchise opened in 1983, and now there are more than 15 locations throughout the greater Birmingham area.     All Steak — initially called All Steak Hamburgers until original owner Millard Buchman discovered the sign would be too expensive — moved from Tennessee to Cullman in 1938.
