    Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q

    1715 6th Ave. SE, Decatur, AL 35601
    (256) 350-6969

After moving to several Decatur locations in its early days, Big Bob Gibson settled into its spot on 6th Avenue just south of town. Today, Big Bob’s grandson, Don McLemore, runs it. The second location on Danville Road is run by Chris Lilly, Don’s son-in-law. Both places prepare smoked pork and chicken using the same methods that Big Bob developed. Both spots also serve the same award-winning sauce. The menu has changed since the days when Big Bob served only chips and coleslaw with his barbecue. Now the restaurants cook ribs and turkey on the pit as well. And, of course, there are barbecue salads, Brunswick stew, baked beans, potato salad and the legendary pies. More
