Owned by James Beard Award nominee Chris Dupont, Café Dupont started in the small town of Springville, Ala., but later moved to a historic spot in downtown Birmingham. The building's exposed brick and high ceilings add to the traditional bistro feel and gained the restaurant a preservation award from the city in 2004. Known for signature dishes such as seared scallops with goat cheese soufflé, and beignets with homegrown strawberry preserves, Café Dupont combines classic regional ingredients with contemporary styling.
