Two day family friendly festival celebrating Independence Day with children’s activities, entertainment, food vendors and fireworks on the night of the fourth.
For decades, Thunder on the Mountain, Birmingham’s Fourth of July fireworks celebration, has been hailed as one of the largest and most extravagant Independence Day traditions in the state of Alabama, and this year will be no exception. On Saturday, July 4 at 9 p.m., Thunder on the Mountain 2015 will once again illuminate the skies above Birmingham’s beloved iron man, Vulcan. Free to the public, this year’s show will last approximately 20 minutes and will feature a variety of firework shells that will brighten the sky with new colors and patterns. The show will be choreographed to a musical soundtrack that will feature a mix of patriotic favorites and popular musical performances.

Sloss Music & Arts Festival is a two-day music and lifestyle event that takes place at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark in Birmingham, AL on Saturday July 16th and Sunday July 17th of 2016.
The W.C. Handy Music Festival is a 10-day celebration inspired by the “Father of the Blues” and the musical heritage of northwest Alabama. Over 200 events occur during the festival ranging from concerts to art exhibits and plays to athletic events. Music can be enjoyed in the local parks, stores, restaurants, churches and on the banks of the Tennessee River. Expect to hear everything from blues, jazz, gospel and soul to that distinctive Muscle Shoals sound. Events take place in the quad cities of Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield and Tuscumbia, known as The Shoals.
